History of MIDI	The MIDI format was created in 1983 and is still very much in use today. When you consider how much technology has moved on since then and given the fact that it still retains the same structure and protocols that were originally agreed, (no backward compatibility issues with MIDI) it must surely rank as one of the most enduring, robust and flexible standards that have been devised. Tutorial on MIDI and Music Synthesis	Comprehensive study of MIDI. Written in 1995 some info may be dated, but still well worth a read. Takes you though basic MIDI structure and setup to more in depth stuff with some sound synthesis theory thrown in for good measure.
